The Society was formed in 1975 by Louanna Billington and Donna Keyse, and a number of charter members.

Our purpose is to make the community (including local students) aware of Madison History and to preserve as much of it as possible.
We fulfill our purpose by:

Maintaining a 10-room museum of Madison history
Offering guided tours of the museum
Maintaining genealogical, document, property and other Madison history files and archives
Offering monthly programs for members as well as educational programs for students and other community groups
Actively generating interest in preservation
Receiving, maintaining and displaying
donated artifacts relating to Madison history
Circulating an informative and interactive
periodic newsletter
Maintaining a library of historic books
pertaining to life in Madison, Lake County, Ohio
and the Western Reserve
Encouraging owners of vintage homes to
register their property as an Historic Home
